Does anybody knows when this bill is going to be discussed in the House?
:) No one seems to have any concrete info. There is lot of empty talk and idle speculation by some of the forum members, though. Guess that's what the public forums are for :D

Very well responded Jay.
I don't want to write in the forum just for the heck of it, but when I see non-sense posts like the one posted by a "talented leader", I just can't seem to stop. At some time, I just feel its not worth even 2 minutes of my time to read and respond to negative comments, but then I think these negative comments don't create a type of "Grass-root" org that we need. I'm starting to believe that people have no regard to whatever the "Volunteer" IV Core members are doing, they just like to post messages and induce negative discussions and when we feed the trolls, they get excited. So my point is - let's stop that. Let's not feed them - our time, our energy, our ideas.
We need to promote more of "WE ARE ALL IN IT TOGETHER", and each and every one of us "CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE". This can only happen with actions - Get active in State Chapters, post what you are doing there - that will create the sense of belonging and not by responding to every little negative comments that get posted.
Ok enough already.

We've received information that Congressman John Shadegg of Arizona's 3rd District (http://johnshadegg.house.gov/) has introduced SKIL bill in the house and it has 10 Republican Co-Sponsors.
John Shadegg (R-AZ)
John Campbell (R-CA)
K. Michael Conaway (R-TX)
John T. Doolittle (R-CA)
Jeff Flake (R-AZ)
Peter Hoekstra (R-MI)
Michael McCaul (R-TX)
Mike Pence (R-IN)
John Shimkus (R-IL)
Todd Tiahrt (R-KS)
SKIL bill is the same bill that was originally introduced at the begining of this year by Senator John Cornyn of Texas (http://cornyn.senate.gov/). SKIL was also merged into the Senate version of CIR thru last minute Manager's amendment. And yes, SKIL does have 485 filing provision during retrogression.
SKILL BILL's text can be found here : Text from Sen Cornyn's site (http://cornyn.senate.gov/doc_archive/05-02-2006_SKIL%20section%20by%20section%20_5-1_.pdf)
We hope to see this bill pass the House. It may have to jump a few hoops though. In order to bypass the House Judiciary committee it has to be introduced on the house floor and House Republican Leadership can do that. Its a strong possibility given the 10 co-sponsors.
However, it seems that some legislators are realizing that the reform in legal immigration to reduce backlogs is neccesary and overdue and would have to precede CIR if CIR is going to be stalled.
We will update this thread with more information when we know more.

Thanks AskBird, My only concern is if the new EB2 labor or I140 doesn't get approved for some reason, can I fall back to my current EB3 application. I don't want to jeopardize my current application just by deciding to port to EB2. Any suggestions?

First of all I think logiclife will go in the history of immigration books as the movers that existed in this generation. I am amazed at how motivated the IV core team is and how smoothly they have organized the whole show so far.
I salute you. Hats off to you guys.
I read a lot of newspaper articles after the rally and they always seemed to mention that Indian and Chinese legal aliens protesting backlogs. I think there should be some effort to also include people from other nationalities such as Russians, Englishmen, Philipinos, Chinese and other nationalities. Now I know they are not hit as hard as us but they go thru some serious backlog as well if they are in the EB3 category.
Question is I am thinking how?
Any ideas guys?
---
Were you at the rally? Two most visible people were Franklin and Mark. Both are non-Indians.
But your point is well taken, let us know if you have any specific strategies to do this?f

Isn't this old news? has been around for a while???
this is the first time i heard details about this bill even though he has been talking about it after meeting Bush. the news article thread has the analysis i found from an anti immigration group site. AILA has posted it as their news today however they have not yet posted the summary of the bill. The question is which one of the 3 --SKIL bill, CIR or Pence will be really voted and which ones will be put in the backburner for future or silent demise!

I don't personally think we had much media coverage except some hidden links, can we post some paid adds where everyone can get know what we are addressing in here i.e., on the front page of google, yahoo, msn, cnn, etc. I know some people might have second thoughts as it involves $ but I'm ready for it to get public attention. There is a thin line between legal and illigal and they are ready to club both together for their benefits. I'm starting to wonder how many people know what is going on, we have to educate them first.

That is an excuse.
If someone wants to attend, nothing stops them from attending the rally
What you say are silly excuses
... and it also means those who do not want to attend are free not to attend.

No, it isn't NC and NC alone. The percentage of people that get stuck in NC is minuscule compared to the back log due to inefficiencies.
You can believe what you like, you can chose to in 1 breath quote from the Ombudsman report and then in the next, ignore what it states.
The fact remains, the USCIS is very far from effcient
I really do not know how you got to this conclusion. Everybody I know either are 1) stuck due to retro 2) stuck due to NC 3) approved within a reasonable period of time.

Hi,
Thought this may be some helpful information. I contacted an attorney and she showed me a recent circular (dtd. Spet 26) from AILA about premature I-485 approvals and how that can be corrected through an AILA liasion. So, Alias, looks like your attorney followed the same procedure.

Hi Pappu,
It is definitely a change. Americans are looking for a change. I am talking to friends to reconsider support for IV.
Here is a positive outcome, in my opinion:
http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20061108/ap_on_go_ca_st_pe/rumsfeld_resigns
Rumsfeld just resigned.
Regards,
Ombudsman
Its good that we have a democratic majority in congress. we also now have work cutout for us to contact new lawmakers. getting more members and members willing to work for local chapters is important at this time. we need to work with renewed vigour now and finish our task. pls help with increasing membership and join your state level chapter threads. I see only very few members have posted their interest. we need interest from each member in order to succeed. I am sure we will succeed. The good times are ahead of us but we need to take advantage of it.

In my opinion Let's contribute $100 each pay them and get this information. I'm sure there'll be 50 people who would want this information for $100....Atleast I'm sick of seeing Visa Dates predictions and seeing Visa bulletins itself. Atleast we'll know what we are dealing with.

Man...looks like they are working like crazy to get the EADs approved. My spouse's application: Recieved on 9th June, 08 and card production ordered on the 25th June, 08. 16 days...they are doing everything possible to save some money for USCIS(assuming the EAD they mailed is a 1 year one). I wonder why they even came up with the 2 year EAD when their plan is to do this.
