AC21 pioneers, any recommendations on picking lawyers around NYC? specifically those that are fairly responsive and charge a fair price on all the procedures / docs that come with maintaining AOS, including a possible AC21 notification letter, renewing EAD/APs....

Hello
We moved to a new location after filing our 485, EAD and AP petitions. We immediately sent the AR11 forms (by Fedex) and also did the AR 11 form online. Apart from this we updated the addresses for all pending petitions.
The status is as follows:
1. My wife's EAD went to the old address and fortunately USPS forwarded to our new address. However my EAD has not yet reached me though when I check online it looks like it was approved on 1st Oct. How do we track this?
2. I have received the address change confirmations from USCIS for my 485 petition. I have not received the same for my wife and daughter's petitions. Do I have to go and update the address change once again online?
Kindly advice based on your experience.

I was in a similar situation and my lawyer advised to apply for H1 (come April) even without the H4 extension. A query will be sent asking to prove your status until atleast Sep 30th. You can then attach your H4 papers (assuming your H4 extn is approved by then).
Anyway, i am planning to apply for extension using premium processing just to make sure things progress smoothly.

I think we need to expose employers who are taking advantage of us in different ways just because we are stuck with them due to retrogression. This way if we cannot change the legislation right away we can atleast scare the crooks by exposing them so that they cannot trap new people.

My details:
India/EB3/PD:Sep2003/I140 Approved.
I485/EAD/AP: Recevied July 28
I completed FP appointment last week (Wednesday), but LUD has not changed since then.
Also EAD status changed twice (before undergoing FP) it said Card Production Ordered. Today it changed to Approval Notice sent.
Questions:
1. Is there any relation between FP and EAD ? (e.g. Prints appear on EAD etc)
2. Is that the right sequence in change of status:
"Card Production Ordered" followed by "Approval Notice Sent".

I would apply for the renewal EAD now. Are you using the EAD to work ? Normally if the EAD is not approved after 90 day wait, then one can get a temp EAD form the local office. Give yourself some time, just in case something gets dealyed.

My currently salary is significantly higher than the salary specified in LCA. I am planning to go for stamping next month.
Will it be a problem with big salary difference during stamping? Is it required to file an amendment.

Friends I need an opinion regarding my wifes situation. She is currently on H4. She was on H1B before some time back which she had stamped in India itself. That H1B expired. She moved back to India. After 5 years now she applied for new H1B and got it in the quota. When the dates advanced we applied for her EAD. We were hoping to get it in 60-70 days. Now its been 75 days at TSC and no signs of approval. She had job offer based on EAD since we thought might as well use that. Now we are thinking she should get her H1B stamped because we dont know when her EAD will get approved. For that do you think going to Canada for stamping is safe. She has a Bachelors degree from India. Or do you think going to India only is thesafe option. Mainly I asked was I did some search and found out that its safest in Canada if you have US/Canadian Degree. Is that true or I am wrong and its safe for everyone. Thanks.

AP allows you to enter US without a valid visa.
EAD allows you to work in US for any employer.
Untill and unless someone utlizes his EAD, he is still on H1 (if he has valid H1) doesn't matter he enters US using AP. Am I correct?
Then question arrises, If H1 holder changes his job then he needs to transfer his H1 only and not use EAD. Is this possible to have H1 renewed and transfered even though one has EAD approved, meaning is it compulsory to use EAD one you get it?

The LC was file around Apr/Jun '07 so i would assume this is the Priority date correct?

Mine came back on Aug 30th and my wifes last week
We have now refiled
This time it has gone for "special handling"-bypassing the mail room
I haven't got the receipt yet
Anyone who had a similar experience or went via special handling for some other reason...
How long does it take to get the receipt nowadays ?
(I couldn't see any receipt update on USCIS- I guess most of the people are past that stage)
Will special-handling speed up my Receipt OR EAD OR AP?
